INTERNATIONAL UNION OF ELEVATOR CONSTRUCTORS
Job Description: 
Elevator Constructor Journeymen and Apprentices install, modernize, maintain, repair, and service elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, moving sidewalks and airport people movers.

Environmental Conditions:
Elevator Constructors must have the ability to perform essential job functions in a field setting with exposure to non-controlled climate conditions.  They must also have the ability and willingness to withstand heights and work in cramped working conditions.

Job Functions:
Elevator Constructors must have the ability to use hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting.  They manually load, unload and move materials, equipment and tools weighing up to 100 lbs. from vehicles to work areas.  They must clean elevator car tops, machine rooms, pits, rails and hoistways within non-controlled climate field settings.

Requirements: Elevator Constructors must have the ability to: 
Understand general arithmetic
Speak and write in a clear and understandable manner
Understand verbal and written instructions
Learn, practice and adhere to safety standards
Walk or stand 90% and to sit 10% of the time
Lift up to 100 lbs. 75% of the time
Perform repetitive stooping forward bending and crouching approximately 70% of the time
The willingness to travel up to 95% of the time
Operate various power and hand tools

Terms of Apprenticeship: 
4 Years on-the-job training
Minimum accumulation of 6800 on-the-job training hours
144 hours of related classroom training per year for 4 years

Basic Requirements:
Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years old at time of application
Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED at time of application
A certified drug test may be required at time of indenture at the employers expense
Applicant must submit a non-refundable $25.00 testing fee at time of testing
Applicant must provide valid photo ID at time of application
Personal Interview
Good physical condition. Able to do work of the trade
